The Pokémon Trading Card Game is celebrating its 30th anniversary in a huge way with the upcoming 30th Celebration special expansion.
Following in the footsteps of the incredibly popular 25th Celebrations set from 2021, this new release combines nostalgic reprints, brand-new cards, special anniversary products, and exciting new rarities that are already generating massive hype amongst collectors worldwide.
The Pokémon Company has officially revealed 30th Celebration, a special anniversary set scheduled for a worldwide release on 16 September 2026.
For the first time ever, Pokémon TCG fans around the globe will receive the set simultaneously rather than waiting for separate Japanese and English release schedules.
30 Classic Cards Return
One of the biggest attractions of the set is the return of 30 iconic cards from Pokémon TCG history.
These cards feature special anniversary treatments, including a commemorative Pikachu "30" stamp and unique foil finishes.
While these cards are intended primarily for collectors and are not expected to be tournament legal, they are likely to become some of the most sought-after cards in the set.
Among the classic cards reportedly included are fan favourites spanning multiple generations of Pokémon TCG history, giving both long-time collectors and newer fans a chance to own modern versions of some legendary cards.
Every Booster Pack Contains A Pikachu Card
The most unique feature of 30th Celebration is that every booster pack will contain a Pikachu card featuring unseen artwork created exclusively for the set.
There will be 30 different Pikachu cards available throughout the set, encouraging collectors to complete the entire Pikachu collection. Every booster pack will also contain six cards and every card will feature a foil treatment.
For Pikachu collectors, this could become one of the most exciting Pokémon releases ever produced.
Introducing "Futuristic Rare" Cards
Pokémon has also revealed an entirely new rarity for the anniversary set called Futuristic Rare.
These cards feature distinctive artwork designed to represent Pokémon's future while celebrating its past. Early previews suggest they could become some of the most desirable chase cards from the entire release, particularly among collectors looking for something completely new and unique to the 30th anniversary.
Special Anniversary Products Revealed
Additional products have already been revealed for the celebration.
Japan Championship announcements showcased special boxed products featuring:
- Espeon ex
- Umbreon ex
- Pikachu ex
These products are expected to become highly desirable among collectors due to their exclusive anniversary branding and promotional cards.
Pokémon has also announced a range of 30th Celebration Card Sets, featuring starter Pokémon promotional cards from multiple generations alongside anniversary booster packs.
